Brockville Ontario Speedway Opener Cancelled

BROCKVILLE - Ark racing maybe, but there will be no auto racing tonight at Brockville Ontario Speedway. A steady rain that began last night and continued into the morning hours has prompted track officials to pull the plug on the season opener at the Beast of the East.
The Speedway will try to get things going next Saturday night, May 21st with a full program of 358 Modifieds, Sportsman, Street Stocks and Rookies plus the McNamee Concrete Vintage Cars. The first green flag of 2011 is slated to drop at 7pm.

Pallen Survives Charging Hiebert in Morden Opener.

Kaz Grafix photo

Greg Cybulski, Morden, MB (May 8, 2011) Darren Pallen put in a strong performance to win the first Northern Lightning Sprint Association feature of 2011 at ALH Motor Speedway on Sunday afternoon. Pallen, who finished second to Roland Bernard in 2009, served notice that he is going to once again be a serious threat for the NLSA championship this season.

Pallen's #11 Lightning Sprint was not the only car that was showing the way on the Morden short track. Tyson Hiebert, who is considered an early favorite to contend for the Lightning Sprint track championship at ALH Motor Speedway, gave the race winner all he could handle in the closing laps before settling for a close second place finish in the feature.

Following a couple of early yellow flags, Pallen lead the Lightning Sprints into the first turn and began to distance himself from his competition.

With the #11 effectively running the bottom, Hiebert changed his line to the high side and swept his #64 Sprinter around the cushion in an attempt for close ground on the race leader. The strategy appeared to be working as Tyson Hiebert climbed his way to within striking distance.

On the final lap, Hiebert made one last attempt to get his car past the leader but to no avail as Darren Pallen would win the battle on this day.

If the first race of 2011 was any indication, the NLSA will be heating up southern Manitoba in a big way this racing season.

Rounding up the top 5 was Darren Pallen, Tyson Hiebert, Chris Bouwman, Frank Elias and Amber Balcaen.

Heat races were won by Darren Pallen and Tyson Hiebert.

PORSCHE GT3 CUP CHALLENGE CANADA DEBUTS THIS WEEKEND AT CALABOGIE

CALABOGIE, ON, May 13 /CNW/ - The 20th Porsche one-make racing series will roar onto the Canadian motorsports scene this weekend with the inaugural Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada race. Calabogie Motorsports Park, in Calabogie, Ontario, will host the 911-based race cars on May 14 and 15.

The Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge has become a fixture on the racing scene around the world. Run on every continent, except for Antarctica and Africa, it is estimated that the GT3 Cup Challenge will hold 120 events and 255 championship rounds in 2011.

The concept of a Porsche based one-make cup series dates back to 1986, with the Rothman's-Porsche Challenge Series for normally-aspirated Porsche 944s in Canada and the Porsche Turbo Cup Championship for 944 Turbos in Germany.

In series designed to showcase and develop driver talent, all competitors race technically-identical vehicles with only the ability and learning curve of the individual driver providing an advantage. The series is thus highly cost-efficient and transparent, allowing racing to become more affordable and to nurture talent that otherwise might not have been discovered. To further level the playing field, each Porsche will compete exclusively on Michelin racing tires.

"For us, this is an opportunity to help Canadian drivers showcase their talents in a highly competitive, driver-focused series," said Joe Lawrence, President and CEO of Porsche Cars Canada. "Racing is part of our DNA - with over 28,000 victories in International racing, Porsche IS motorsports."

The new series will be contested in the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car, one of the world's most successful race cars. Developed for Porsche one-make cups worldwide, the 911 GT3 Cup car is based on the production 911 and is, in fact, built on the same production line as all other 911 models. The same GT3 Cup car is also eligible to compete in both the American Le Mans Series and the Grand-Am series in North America.

Three events comprise the inaugural season of the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada: May 14-15 at Calabogie Motorsports Park (Calabogie, Ontario), June 3-5 at Circuit ICAR (Mirabel, Quebec) and ending the season on the same racing card as their American counterparts July 23-24 at the Mobil 1 Presents the Grand Prix of Mosport.

Ryan Litt: Aspirations to the throne

Ryan Litt and the #07 BS&B Radiator Sprint Car team started their 2011 season at the Must See Racing Xtreme Sprint Series opener at Salem last month. Now they’re ready to compete in the “King of the Wings” event coming up this Sunday at Indiana’s legendary Winchester Speedway.

Ryan started the season on the right foot with a 2nd place finish at Salem, and enters the weekend tied for 3rd in the Xtreme Sprint Series points standings. Winchester is another of the high-speed, high-banked tracks that Ryan loves to race on, but he and the #07 team have had their share of bad luck at the historic speedway.

Last year’s King of the Wings event was another chapter in that bad luck book. Ryan started 10th in the feature race, and moved through the field quickly to challenge for the runner-up spot until magneto problems forced him out of the race.

“I’m pumped,” says Ryan. “We have the worst luck at this track. (I) really hope the car stays together, and we can run strong.”

Located 90 miles northeast of Indianapolis, Winchester has been home to auto racing since 1916. The 37 degree banking in the corners makes them some of the steepest in all of motorsports.

WHAT’S NEW?

The all-new Ryan Litt Racing website launched last month at www.RyanLitt.com. Powered by Linton Media, the site has many new features including integrated social networking, an updated multimedia page, and online merchandise ordering.

Ryan Litt Racing has newly-designed t-shirts for sale. Visit www.RyanLitt.com to check them out, and place an order.

358-Modified Rookie Chris Raabe opens 2011 DIRTcar season with a win

Already heralded as one of the most talented young drivers to steer his way through the Northeast’s open-wheel ranks, Chris Raabe made his mark early in the 2011 campaign by capturing his first career DIRTcar Racing 358-Modified feature win at Can-Am Motorsports Park on May 6.

The Napanee, Ont. speedster now turns his attention to the weekend ahead on both sides of the border, with stops scheduled at Mohawk Int’l Raceway in Akwesasne and Cornwall (Ont.) Motor Speedway, where he garnered coveted track point crowns the season before in Sportsman competition.

The biggest difference in his first full-time assault on the Small-Block circuit will be the level of experience that many of his counterparts have in navigating around some of the most demanding short-tracks on the DIRTcar circuit today.

“We’ll definitely have our work cut out but we’re confident we’ll learn fast, especially after picking up a win right off the bat at Can-Am,” remarked Raabe, who officially traded in his popular ‘Teenage Tornado’ moniker after turning 20 in March. He remains an honor student at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario where he has just concluded his sophomore year pursuing a Mechanical Engineering degree.

“We started 10th in our first race at Can-Am (April 30) and got up to fifth before it was over. It was a fast tacky track and we took advantage of an 8th-place starting spot to a win the second time out,” noted Raabe, who strapped himself into the potent C&B Enterprises no. 01 Erin & Buggo-Sunrise Racing/TEO ride on both nights and will bring it back out for a special practice session this Saturday at Mohawk and enter it in Cornwall’s exciting season-opening Twin 25s on Sunday.

In 2009 Raabe steered the no. 01 Scott’s Industrial Services-TyRoute Communication/TEO machine to his second career Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman title --- becoming only the third repeat champion in 20 years of DIRTcar Sportsman racing and just the second to wear back-to-back crowns--- closing out the campaign leading the DIRTcar Sportsman ranks with 19 feature wins while claiming track high-point crowns at Can-Am Motorsports Park and Thunder Alley Speedpark in the north country.

The year prior, Raabe became the first driver from north of the border to claim the coveted Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman Championship since the touring format was established in 1990, adding track titles at Brockville Ontario Speedway, Thunder Alley and Rolling Wheels Raceway Park while once again collecting a DIRTcar NE-best 19 feature wins on the Sportsman circuit.

Although dropping to third in the final Mr. DIRTcar point standings last autumn, Raabe added a pair of series wins to improve his single-season division record to 31, while whetting his appetite with a trio of year-ending small-block appearances at Mohawk and the Syracuse Mile in October when he copped his first 358-Mod checkered flag in the fairgrounds ‘Futures’ race.

“I’m so happy with the new Teo Chassis sway-bar car, it responded to our adjustments just like it should,” Raabe added. “Our Lafrance engine is also performing very well and I feel we have lots of power there for sure. Right now we’re preparing a second car for the series and expect to be as competitive at this level as we were in the Sportsman class.”

Despite topping the current Can-Am points chart after two weeks of activity, Raabe plans to focus his weekly efforts on Mohawk (Fri.) and Cornwall (Sun.) while following the entire Mr. DIRTcar 358-Modified Championship Series. Merrittville (Ont.) Speedway kicks off the 9-race Mr. DIRTcar champ trail on May 23 and Raabe is anxious to return after scoring a pair of Top-5 finishes the past two years in Sportsman tour events.

Raabe Resume

-First 14 year-old to win a DIRTcar Modified (Sportsman) feature,

-Youngest DIRTcar Track Champion (Sportsman) at age 15,

-Youngest Mr. DIRTcar Champion (Sportsman) at age 17,

-Youngest back-to-back Mr. DIRTcar Champion (Sportsman) at age 18,

-DIRTcar Sportsman single-season record of 31 feature wins in 2010,

-All-time career leader with 8 DIRTcar Sportsman point titles at 6 tracks,

-2nd all-time with 81 career DIRTcar Sportsman wins at 9 tracks.

KRC - BELLHOUSING MOUNTED ALTERNATOR KITS

Kennesaw, Ga. -- May 12, 2011 -- KRC Power Steering has developed an all new bellhousing mounted alternator bracket drive system. Two kits are available, one for KRC power steering pumps and another for dry-sump pumps. Each kits includes a billet aluminum 93MM Denso alternator bracket that will work with both SBC and LS based engines, such as the CT525, a HTD pulley for the appropriate pump with rock guards, a HTD alternator pulley and appropriate hardware. The KRC power steering pump kit includes two belts. The aluminum bracket features countersunk hardware to allow for more belt clearance, as well as a third support that bolts to the cylinder head. The SBC support hole is slotted to allow for changes in deck heights.

This system is ideal for dirt racers who want to keep their battery voltage consistent, while keeping the weight further back in the chassis. It also keeps the alternator out of the dirt, which is a concern on front mounted system. It will also work on any other car that runs the power steering or dry-sump pump off the bellhousing.

NOEL DOWLER JR. TO MAKE NASCAR CANADIAN TIRE SERIES DEBUT

May 11, 2011. A rising young racing star from Western Canada is set to make his stock car racing debut in the 2011 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series. After several successful years racing Karts and Formula cars, Eighteen year old Noel Dowler Jr. from Sherwood Park, Alberta will make the leap up to compete in select events this season in the #5 EMCO Dodge prepared by DJK Racing.

The primary sponsorship backing for this entry into the premiere stock car racing series in Canada comes from EMCO Corporation. The Dowler family has a long association with EMCO and is very pleased it will continue into the future with Noel Dowler at the wheel of the #5 EMCO Dodge.

Noel Dowler is the oldest son of Kevin Dowler the principal with Apollo Motorsports. Kevin Dowler was an extremely successful racer but stepped out of the driver’s seat in 2007 to hand the driving challenges to his sons. Each of Kevin’s three sons competes in various Karting series and now Noel Dowler is making the jump up to the NASCAR Canadian Tire series.

Noel Dowler took to the track at Kawartha Speedway last week for his ever first laps behind the wheel of the 2,800 pound NASCAR Canadian Tire series stock car and enjoyed the experience. “It was quite a thrill” said the young man afterwards. “The car is so different from what I’ve driven previously but I’m excited to be here and looking forward to the season” he said enthusiastically.

Dowler’s #5 EMCO Dodge will be another entry from the DJK Racing team headed by 2010 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Champion DJ Kennington. While on the track for his test laps it was Kennington who was on the radio coaching Noel Dowler through each corner. “It was a very good first outing. He’s a talented young guy and I know he’ll be able to make the transition” said Kenning ton. “I’ve known his father Kevin for a long time, we used to race against each other and when he approached me about putting a car together for Noel I was thrilled to get involved” he added.

The 2011 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series schedule mapped out for Noel Dowler is to participate in the five events that take place on the Road and Street courses, along with the two oval track races at Motoplex Speedway in Vernon, BC and Auto Clearing Speedway in Saskatoon for a total of seven races. Monza Beckons Series Leader Wickens - Canadian Heads to Italy with Formula Renault 3.5 Points Lead

Toronto, Canada (May 11, 2011) – Canada’s Robert Wickens will look to consolidate his points lead as the 2011 Formula Renault 3.5 Series heads to Italy and the renowned Autodromo Nazionale Monza for Round 3’s double-header meeting this weekend, Saturday 14th – Sunday 15th May.

The 22-year-old claimed a win and a second place last time out at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium to move to the top of the Driver Standings, the Canadian assuming a 14 point advantage over his Carlin team-mate, Frenchman Jean Eric Vergne heading into Monza this weekend.

The 5.79km Italian circuit proved kind to the Toronto-born racer last season when he visited as part of the inaugural GP3 Series season. Wickens captured a victory and a second place finish in the double-header event before going on to eventually finish Runner-Up in the final 2010 Driver Standings.

“I really like Monza,” Wickens commented ahead of his trip to the home of the Italian Grand Prix and the famed ‘tifosi’. “Like Spa where we last raced, it’s one of the few remaining old fashioned tracks with lots of history and character. I had pretty good results there last season with the win and second place so I’m hoping things go that well again this weekend.

“It’ll be a little interesting this time around as we’re part of the World Touring Car Championship package in Italy and not the usual World Series by Renault meeting. This means we’ll be skipping our usual mandatory pit-stop in Sunday’s race so it’ll effectively be another full-on sprint race from the get go. Also, because of the low aero levels you run at Monza, they’re lifting the LAC (Low Aerodynamic Configuration) rule for Saturday’s race. This could add a bit of a twist into how we approach the event! The competition is tough in this series but I’ll be aiming to keep the points lead exiting Monza!”

Wickens, who enjoys support from Marussia Motors – a co-owner of the Marussia Virgin Racing Formula One team, has continued to blaze a trail in European open-wheel competition since he first raced on the continent in 2008. With race wins in the F3 Euro Series, A1GP, Formula 2, GP3 and Formula Renault 3.5, Robert has continued to impress while remaining focused on his goal of becoming the first Canadian to reach Formula One since former World Champion Jacques Villeneuve.

The weekend’s Formula Renault 3.5 Series action kicks off in Italy with Race 1 set for 1pm CET on Saturday 14th, while Race 2 starts at 11:30am CET on Sunday 15th May.

2011 FR3.5 Series Top-5 Driver Standings (R2/9): 1st – WICKENS (CAN) 71pts, 2nd – Vergne (FRA) 57pts, 3rd – Rossi (USA) 55pts, 4th – Costa (ESP) 52pts, 5th – Panciatici (FRA) 26pts - www.worldseriesbyrenault.com

About Robert Wickens:

Robert Wickens (22) is recognized as one of the brightest Canadian driving talents to have emerged in recent years with a track record of success forged on both sides of the Atlantic leading him well placed on the path to Formula One. A multiple karting champion in North America, Wickens won the 2006 Formula BMW USA title before graduating, and winning races in the Formula Atlantic Series the following year. Chasing his F1 dream, Robert moved to Europe in 2008 winning races in both the World Series by Renault and the F3 Euro Series.

He raced his way to the runner-up spot in the FIA F2 Championship in 2009, again a multiple race-winner, before tackling the 2010 GP3 Series. Another strong title-challenging campaign saw Robert claim the runner-up position but more importantly, his 2010 efforts attracted the backing of Marussia Motors – Russia’s first supercar manufacturer and an owner in the Marussia Virgin F1 team.

About Marussia Motors:

Founded in 2007 by former racing driver Nikolay Fomenko, renowned brand strategist Efim Ostrovsky and award-winning technology entrepreneur Andrey Cheglakov, the creation of Russia’s first high-performance car company is a remarkable story of vision, focus, innovation and ambition. The dramatic mid-engined B1 design, was first unveiled in Moscow in 2008, followed by the launch of the Marussia B2 in the autumn of 2009 – with these designs, the Russian supercar had arrived. In 2010 the company partnered with Virgin Racing F1 and at the end of the season Marussia Motors acquired a majority stake in the team – now called Marussia Virgin Racing – www.marussiamotors.ru / www.virginracing.com

About Formula Renault 3.5 Series:

The Formula Renault 3.5 Series has been successful in launching several drivers directly into Formula One with the notable stand-outs including 2010 Formula One World Champion Sebastian Vettel, as well as Grand Prix winner Robert Kubica. Both Vettel and Kubica made their F1 starts graduating straight from successful seasons competing in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series – part of the ‘World Series by Renault’ package. In 2011 the series sees 26 cars competing in 17 races across 9 of Europe’s leading circuits including the likes of Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium), Monza (Italy), Silverstone (UK) and Monaco – www.worldseriesbyrenault.com

Engine Research Becomes Title Sponsor of the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints B-Main

SYRACUSE, NY – While the 2011 season for the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints (ESS) has already seen its first green flag, the quest in obtaining sponsorships hasn’t stopped. KENNINGTON READY TO DEFEND CHAMPIONSHIP IN CASTROL DODGE

May 10, 2011. DJ Kennington and his entire #17 Castrol Edge Doge team are anxious to return to competition in the 2011 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series to defend their series championship. Following a busy off season of title celebrations and a couple of races in United States, Kennington and the team are pleased to welcome back their sponsorship partners and of course the many race fans for another season of excitement.

Returning together for the eighteenth consecutive season DJ Kennington will have primary sponsorship from Castrol Canada and once again feature the Castrol Edge brand. This arrangement between Castrol and DJ Kennington has proven to be a model of success for both parties. “Our partnership with Castrol as been very special” said Kennington. “It’s pretty simple. Their support over the years has allowed me to compete at this level. They are part of our family and I have been proud to represent the company and to finally win the championship for them last season” he stated.

The company is equally excited to be part of the DJ Kennington group again this season. Marketing Communications Manager for Wakefield Castrol Canada Marsha McLaughlin said “Castrol is proud to be back on board with DJ for the eighteenth year. We were with him for the championship in 2010 and we’ll be cheering for him to keep his winning Edge this season”.

The #17 Castrol Edge Dodge team took to the track at Kawartha Speedway recently for the annual Mopar Day activities. The day included a photo session which will feature the sleek new Dodge Challenger body on the Castrol Edge car. “The new body shape looks fantastic” said Kennington. “It has a really nice look to it. I think the fans will be pretty excited about it” he added.

The next order of business was to see how the new body performed on the race track. As expected the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge Challenger was up to speed immediately and at the top of the time sheets. “We did a lot of work over the winter to get ready for this season and today we tried a few things with the set up of the car. And some of them were pretty wild” explained Kennington. “But to come out here for the first time and be fast gives us confidence and makes us anxious for the start of the season. We’ll probably do another test day before the opener at Mosport, but we’re ready” he stated confidently.

In addition to the primary support from Castrol Canada, Kennington is also pleased to welcome back long time partner Mahindra Tractors. “It’s great to have Mahindra back with us again this year” said Kennington. “We also had Hitachi Power Tools join our program last season and appreciate what they’ve done for our team” said the driver of the #17 Castrol Dodge.

The season opening event for the 2011 NASCAR Canadian Tire series is Saturday May 28th at Mosport Speedway. Once again this year fans will be able to watch all twelve races on TSN. Check local listings for tiems. Race fans are encouraged to keep up to date with the latest team news in several ways. Race fans should bookmark the team website www.djkracing.ca and follow them on twitter, www.twitter.com/djkracing Fans are also suggested to join the Facebook Group DJK Racing.

Ohsweken Speedway: Ticket sales brisk for Tony Stewart appearance.... plenty of WoO tix still available

One of the highlights of the 2011 Ohsweken Speedway schedule will take place on Tuesday evening, July 26th when Tony Stewart makes a scheduled stop at the “Big O” to challenge the CORR/Pak Sprint regulars.  This will be the first time that Stewart has had the opportunity to turn laps on the only weekly sprint car track in Canada. Thanks to the efforts of John Brush (CORR/Pak Merchandising), Jessica Zemken and Glenn Styres, this event is sure to stand out in the history books of Canada’s premier Sprint Car Dirt Track.

Promoter Glenn Styres stated that “Sandwiched between Christmas In July featuring a visit from Santa on Friday, July 22nd and a visit of the Western Ontario Outlaw Lawn Tractor racers on Friday, July 29th, the evening featuring Stewart in one of his favourite types of race cars preludes the annual visit of the World of Outlaws competing in the 4th Annual Six Nations Showdown on Wednesday, July 27th. Fans will be able to witness four nights of the most action packed racing in the area in 2011 at one location, all featuring Sprint Cars and are invited to come on out early and enjoy a week of fun at the speedway”. Plenty of primitive camping will be available all week for a nominal one time $10 fee.

Tony Stewart, the co-owner & driver of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series #14 was born on May 20, 1971. He began his racing career at an early age first wheeling a go-kart in 1978 at a Westport, Indiana racetrack. His first championship of many came at the age of eight in a 4-cycle rookie junior go kart class at the Columbus Fairgrounds in his hometown of Columbus, Indiana. Followed by the International Karting Federation Grand National Championship in 1983 and the World Karting Association National Championship in 1987, transition to the higher horsepower open wheel machines began in 1989. Joining USAC in 1991, his first USAC championship came in 1994 in the midget division.

In 1995, Tony captured the USAC Triple-Crown becoming the first driver to ever win the Midget, Sprint, and Silver Crown championships in a single year competing on both dirt and asphalt. The next step was the Indy Car series where a championship followed in 1997. From there it was off to NASCAR where to date, two Cup Championships have been added to his resume. He is the first and only driver to have won championships in stock cars, Indy cars and open-wheel Midgets, Sprints, and Silver Crown along with an International Race of Champions title in 2006 which was the last year the series operated.

Coupled with fielding a two car Cup team for himself and Ryan Newman, Tony also remains loyal to his roots fielding teams in both USAC for Levi Jones and Bryan Clauson, and the World of Outlaws for Steve Kinser and Donny Schatz. He also owns the famed Eldora Speedway in Ohio and has partnership in both Paducah International Raceway in Kentucky and Macon Speedway in Illinois. For more information on Tony Stewart check out www.tonystewart.com.

Keep watch on the official website of Ohsweken Speedway at www.ohswekenspeedway.com for more event details including a “Meet and Greet” as they become available.

"NASCAR Probation" .... Oh, the humanity.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (May 10, 2011) – NASCAR has penalized NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick as a result of rules infractions committed at last weekend’s event at Darlington Raceway.

Busch, driver of the No. 18 car, and Harvick, driver of the No. 29 car, have each been fined $25,000 and placed on NASCAR probation for the next four NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship points events until June 15 for violating Section 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing – involved in an altercation on pit road after the conclusion of the race).

“These penalties are a result of what occurred on pit road after the race was over,” said Kerry Tharp, senior director for communications, competition. “They are about maintaining a safe environment on pit road.” (From NASCAR).

Ontario Honda Dealers Association Announces 'Free Friday' at 2011 Honda Indy Toronto

TORONTO (May 10, 2011) – To help racing fans and those new to the sport enjoy the speed, sound and excitement of IndyCar racing, the Ontario Honda Dealers Association (OHDA) will underwrite the cost of admission for everyone to the opening day of racing at the 2011 Honda Indy Toronto, Friday, July 8 .  This is the second year that OHDA has offered this promotion, which includes an important fundraising component to benefit Make-A-Wish® Canada.

Visitors who attend the Honda Indy Toronto on Free Friday are asked to give a donation to Make-A-Wish® Canada volunteers upon entering in lieu of admission, which Honda Canada will match dollar-for-dollar.  Last year, more than $112,000 was raised over the two-weeks of IndyCar racing in Canada (Toronto and Edmonton) to help make wishes come true for Canadian children living with life-threatening medical conditions.

"Free Friday was a great success last year and we’re grateful to Honda and the Ontario Honda Dealers Association for doing it again as we celebrate 25 years of racing on the streets of Toronto this summer," said Charlie Johnstone, vice president and general manager of the Honda Indy Toronto. "Having free access to an event of this stature is truly a fantastic opportunity and wouldn't be possible without such outstanding corporate partners.”

“We’re excited to provide fans, especially those new to the sport, with a chance to witness first-hand just how exciting IndyCar racing is,” said Brian Tafler, president of the OHDA.  “We hope that fans will be generous at the gate to ensure that heroic children who live with challenging medical conditions can live their own memorable experiences through our partnership with Make A Wish Canada.”

There will be no reserved seats on Friday (except for designated corporate suites), so fans can select any seats on a first-come/first-served basis, even in the Gold and Silver sections around the track.

Festival-goers will have the opportunity to experience an exciting and diverse race schedule throughout race weekend, which includes the IZOD IndyCar Series, Firestone Indy Lights, NASCAR Canadian Tire Series, Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship and, for the first time, the Ferrari Challenge.

The Honda Indy Toronto, scheduled for July 8-10, 2011, marks the 9th race of the 2011 IZOD IndyCar Series season. Tickets for the Honda Indy Toronto are available at www.HondaIndyToronto.com/tickets.  Ticket information is also available by calling 877.503.6869.
