LONDON, ON - Tonight's NASCAR Whelen All-Americn Series Racing Program at Delaware Speedway is ON AS SCHEDULED. This evening's racing features the second round of the populuar three-race Triple Crown series for the NASCAR Late Models as well as racing from the POWERADE Modifieds and Demar Aggregates Trucks. Spectator gates open at 6:00 pm, time trials at 7:15 pm, racing starts at 8:00 pm.
Notes About the Triple Crown Series: Tonight the NASCAR Late Models resume their popular triple crown racing series. This series shakes things up for tonight’s weekly event as it has a separate points system from the regular NASCAR Late Model Championship which is currently led by “Rocket” Ron Sheridan (#52) of Mt Brydges. Over on the Triple Crown side of things, Steve Robblee (#28) of Dorchester is top of the heap. This brings an interesting dynamic to tonight’s race, as Steve Robblee has been out of action since just before the July 7th Summer Showdown presented by APC as a result of back problems. His return tonight as the leader of the Triple Crown points series should put a bit of spring into his step as he moves to defend that position.
In the first round of the Triple Crown, Scott Lindsay (#20) of St. Marys and Jesse Kennedy (#10) of Southwold won each of their respective 25-lap races. Expect a tough battle as many of these classic Delaware Speedway rivals take to the speedway once again. Time trials will also be notable as we had a new track record set back on the summer showdown when D.J. Kennington with his 18.509 seconds, breaking Kyle Busch’s record set just minutes earlier at 18.634 seconds.

Honda Racing Line Expands into Canada
Honda Performance Development, Inc. Expands Honda Racing Line Into Canada ... Parts and Support Now Available For Canadian Grassroots Racers
SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (July 23, 2010) – Responding to strong demand from Canadian grassroots racers, Honda Performance Development, Inc., is expanding its popular Honda Racing Line program to make HPD parts and services available to amateur and entry-level professional racers north of the U.S. border.
Launched in July 2009, the Honda Racing Line is a program targeted at licensed participants in sanctioned amateur and entry-level professional racing. Licensed Canadian competitors may now register for the Honda Racing Line through HondaRacingLine.com.
“We have been very pleased with the growth of the Honda Racing Line program in the U.S., and with the high level of interest we’ve received from Canadian racers,” said HPD President Erik Berkman. “We’re happy to be able to make Racing Line membership available in Canada, and will continue to expand our offerings of products and support to club members.”
The Honda Racing Line includes an array of products and services for Honda and Acura customers who compete in sanctioned events. Once registered, racers have access to performance parts for purchase; race engines, including the Honda Fit power plant for SCCA Formula F competition; web-based technical support; 24-hour service publication support through ServiceExpress; and door-to-door delivery of original-equipment parts for their individual race cars.
Contingency-award programs are also available for members of the Honda Racing Line competing in SCCA and NASA racing. Honda Performance Development (HPD) is the Honda racing company within North America. Founded in 1993, and located in Santa Clarita, Calif., HPD is the technical operations center for American Honda high-performance racing cars and engines. In addition to its grassroots motorsports business, HPD is the single engine supplier to the IZOD IndyCar Series and spearheaded Acura’s championship-winning efforts in the 2009 American Le Mans Series.

OHSWEKEN SPEEDWAY: July 23 show cancelled due to rain
OHSWEKEN, ON - Once again “Mother Nature” dumped heavy overnight rain on Ohsweken Speedway grounds and forecast of continued soaking through out the day has forced management to cancel all activities at the speedway scheduled for today (Friday, July 23rd). “Mid Season Championship for the CORR/Pak Sprint division scheduled for tonight has been cancelled while the Chain Race has been rescheduled to August 6th when the Art Hill Memorial for Mini Stocks will be featured” stated Ken Pelkie, Director of Racing Operations. The annual Ohsweken Speedway “Hot Dog Eating Championship” will also be on the program August 6.
“Christmas In July” including a visit from Santa and the annual Toy Drive also scheduled for tonight has been postponed until August 20th.
Next Friday & Saturday (July 30/31) the World of Outlaws will headline a weekend spectacular as “Arrow Express” presents the third annual “Six Nations Showdown”. Steve Kinser, Donny Schatz and Joey Saldana will lead the invasion as a full point program will be presented each night. Plenty of unserviced camping is available on the grounds for a nominal fee of $10. Pit gates will open at 12:00 noon and Spectator gates opening at 4:00 with on track activities scheduled to begin around 6:30 each night. Plenty of Reserved seat tickets remain at all Ticketmaster locations and will be available at the track Thursday evening, July 29 from 6:00PM until 9:00PM. Ticket windows will open at noon both Friday and Saturday.

Train Races added to Delaware Speedway's Great Canadian Race Weekend
LONDON, ON - They captured the imagination of young and old alike until they came to an end in the mid 1990s. The formula was simple: three cars, chained together, all in varying states of repair. Delaware Speedway hosted the first-ever Train Race in Canada in September 1988. Today, Delaware Speedway is pleased to announce that after twenty years out of action, the famous Delaware Speedway Train Races are set to return. The special return event will run on Saturday, September 4 as part of the Great Canadian Race Weekend.
A train race is far from a ‘normal’ racing competition and has gained legendary status in the years since it last ran. A train is made up of three vehicles chained together: the engine, the middle, and the caboose. The engine car is the leader of the group and has steering, power, and brakes. The middle car is along for the ride and only has only steering. The driver in the caboose car is often considered the bravest of the three at the tail end of the train, having only steering and brakes. Train teams can elect to leave the middle car unmanned if they choose to, in order to save on preparation.
“Ever since I started answering phones at the track one question I get asked year after year is whether or not we run trains anymore,” said Train Race Promoter and speedway Announcer John Houghton. “We know there’s a high demand for seeing this race and know it is going to be amazing to see these in action.”
The rules for the 2010 edition of the train races are very simple. Vehicles that have drivers in them must conform to at least the minimum spec Ultimate Chaos Car roll cage (door bars and rollover bar) and other safety rules. Beyond that teams are encouraged to keep their preparations simple and to have fun. Under these ‘flexible preparation guidelines’ fans can expect to see a variety of different train vehicle combinations at work.
The race will pay $500 to the winner and $200 to start up for up to eight trains. Beyond eight trains, $100 tow money will be given. There are also bonuses for furthest travelled team and best appearing train. There is no special entry fee for the event; competitors simply pay the regular back gate entry fee.
Since the event was announced, four teams have committed to entering trains in the event. Interested teams are encouraged to let the speedway know their plans to compete by contacting John Houghton.
The Great Canadian Race Weekend runs September 3, 4, and 5. The Friday night is sponsored by Krown Body Maintenance and features the NASCAR Late Models, Delaware Super Stocks and the King of the Hill Spectator’s Race finale. Saturday night hosts the Demar Aggregates Trucks, POWERADE Modifieds, Transmission Direct Enduro All-Stars, and return of the Train Races. Kawartha Speedway 2010 - Can You Feel the Thunder
While most race tracks put a special emphasis on the touring series that visit every year, Kawartha Speedway has always been the exception to the rule. It’s the drivers in the track’s 3 weekly divisions that get most of the time in the spotlight. Friday, July 23rd the Better Carpet Thunder Car division will run a 50 lap invitational event. The show will welcome drivers from a variety of other tracks to battle the hometown heroes. Newcastle, Ontario’s Chad Strawn – the 2009 rookie of the year – currently sits 3rd in division points and has done everything short of winning a main event this season. Still, the sophomore runner is pleased by his performance.
“I’ve won qualifying heats and semi features. All that’s missing is the interview in victory lane after a feature win,” said Strawn, who will be a first-time father in September. “My crew works extra hard to make sure the car is ready for every show and that helps a lot. I’d like to win the big race, but running consistently can also lead to a track championship, so I hope we’ll just keep doing what we’re doing,”
In addition to the thunder car 50 lapper, Friday night’s action will also feature the second of 4 appearances by the Ontario Legends Series. Derek Frohlich won the opening round at Kawartha Friday, June 25th in only his first start of the season. Its unsure if he’ll be back to try for 2 in a row as he is also running a 358 cubic inch sprint car, based in Carlisle, Pennsylvania and is currently outside the top 30 in points at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, PA.
Kawartha Speedway officials are working with a variety of tracks and sanctioning bodies to find a make-up date for the 7th Annual Summer Sizzler, after the popular late model series invitational event was delayed by rain Friday, July 9th. Mohawk Raceway: Cornwall regular Ladouceur wins Mohawk Parts Series event
Most weekends Joey Ladouceur is content with just one race night a week, running every Sunday night at the Cornwall Motor Speedway, but as the summer heats up, so does the racing action, as Ladouceur and his race team had a pair of events scheduled this past weekend, including a Mohawk Racing Parts Pro Stock Series on Friday night at the Mohawk Raceway.
Ladouceur won the first race of the Mohawk Race Parts Series at Cornwall Motor Speedway a couple weeks earlier and was looking to make it two in a row on Friday night at the Mohawk Raceway. Ladouceur started from the tenth position in the caution-filled 50 lap Pro Stock Series race, and worked his way through the field as soon as the green flag was displayed. By lap 10, he was into the top five, and just a handful of laps later he was up to third. A restart on lap 20 was just what Ladouceur needed, as he powered to the lead. Ladouceur held the lead for much of the event, only losing it briefly after a lap 30 restart where the second place car got a good jump on the green flag. He regained the lead just a couple of laps later and never looked back.
“The car was really good tonight. We lost the lead there once when the 18 car got a good jump on the restart but we were able to battle back for the win”, said Ladouceur from victory lane. “I just want to thank all of our sponsors, the crew and my family for all of their support”.
It was a tough night for the Ladouceur team on Sunday night at Cornwall. Joey started his heat race from the sixth position, and couldn’t make up any ground at all. While pushing it just a little to hard on the final lap, Ladouceur’s car drifted up the track and tagged the concrete barrier in turn four, causing extensive damage to Ladouceur’s Pro Stock. While most teams would have been done for the night with such hard contact with the wall, the Ladouceur team went to work, welding the rear suspension, and by feature time, they had the car ready to go. Ladouceur started the feature from the 11th position, and gradually worked his way forward. Ladouceur was up to as high as sixth at one point before settling for seventh at the finish.
“We really messed up the car after the heat race. The crew did a great job fixing it up, and the car was actually pretty good for the feature. The way the track conditions were though, it was just so hard to pass”, commented Ladouceur after the race.
Ladouceur will be back on the track this Sunday at the Cornwall Motor Speedway in his Coffrage 20-20 Racing, Mr. Radiator Auto Service, Fence Depot, Fastline Performance, Glengarry Truck Centre. Minimax Transportation, and PM Promotions, Stinger X Chassis. The Mohawk Race Parts Series resumes August 6th at Autodrome Granby, and August 7th at Autodrome Drummond. The final race of the Series is September 5th at the Cornwall Motor Speedway. The next Mr. DIRTcar Pro Stock tour race is Saturday, August 21st back at the Mohawk Raceway.

IndyCar: Paul Tracy Pumped to Return to Edmonton This Weekend
Moraes, Viso and Sato Join Tracy In 4-car KV Racing Technology Effort
EDMONTON, Alta., Canada (July 21, 2010) — Paul Tracy said his No. 15 Honda Canada-Make A Wish-Motegi Racing KV Racing Technology Honda/Dallara/Firestone entry “came alive” in the second half of last Sunday’s Honda Indy Toronto.
Now, Tracy is pumped up to get back in the car’s cockpit this weekend (July 23-25) for the Honda Indy Edmonton in the 1.96-mile, 3.17-km, 14-turn temporary circuit on the City Centre Airport.
Despite a disappointing 24th starting position at Toronto, Tracy quickly passed six drivers in two laps and led 14 laps in the middle of the race. But, late in the race, Tracy’s KV Racing Technology machine was one of the fastest cars on the track, and, only a brief spin kept Tracy from a Top Eight finish. Now, Tracy, 41, sets his sights on the Edmonton track. A 26-car field is set to begin practice this Friday (July 23).
Tracy is no stranger to the City Centre Raceway with top-five finishes from 2005 to 2008 and drove the Honda Canada-Wounded Warriors mount to sixth at the checkered flag in 2009. Look for PT to be in the mix Sunday too.
Tracy will be joined by Mario Moraes, E.J. Viso and F-1 veteran and series rookie Takuma Sato in the four-driver KV Racing Technology line-up at Edmonton.
Moraes, the youngest series regular at age 21, has been strong in road course events at Long Beach (6th) and Watkins Glen (5th) this year in the No. 32 KV Racing Technology Honda/Dallara/Firestone car. Moraes finished 14th at Toronto last Sunday.
Viso, driver of the No. 8 PDVSA - KV Racing Technology Honda/Dallara/Firestone machine, had an impressive car at Toronto with quick times in practice and the race. The personable Venezuelan driver drove near the top-ten for most of the Honda Indy Toronto before being involved in a late race incident with Alex Tagliani and Rafael Matos. Viso finished third at Iowa last month for his best IZOD IndyCar Series finish.
Formula One veteran Sato is an IZOD IndyCar Series rookie driver this year in the No. 5 Lotus — KV Racing Technology Honda/Dallara/Firestone entry and could be a contender in his Edmonton debut. Sato, a podium finisher at the 2004 USGP in Indianapolis, has been competitive in road racing qualifying with two top-six starting positions in 2010 and seeks another chance in the Firestone Fast Six on Saturday afternoon. Sato ran as high as fourth in the Watkins Glen event.
The 11th stop on the IZOD IndyCar Series will be televised live on Versus starting at 5:30 p.m. EDT. The Honda Indy Edmonton will be the final temporary road circuit event this year.

A Preview of the Triple Crown Race and More at Delaware this Friday
London, Ontario- The second race in our 2010 Triple Crown series goes Friday night, July 23rd, as part of an exciting night of racing sponsored by Coca-Cola.
The Triple Crown gives racers another opportunity to earn NASCAR points (if they are NASCAR members) and to accumulate Delaware Speedway points. Maritime Pro Stock Tour heads to 660 for the Parts for Trucks 100
HALIFAX, NS - The CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour is heading to New Brunswick for the first time this season. Speedway 660, located just outside of Fredericton, will host the Parts for Trucks 100 on Saturday July 24th. Saturday’s event will be round five of eleven for the regional touring series. After an amazing display at the IWK 250 last weekend, the warriors of the CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour are ready for battle again this Saturday at the 1/3 mile oval. Qualifying for the Parts for Trucks 100 feature will get underway at 6:10 pm with Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials. Racing is slated to start at 7:00 pm.
The Parts for Trucks 100 is the first of only two visits to the Geary NB track this season for the CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour. The Tour has a stellar line-up of talent hailing from New Brunswick, including former Champion Shawn Tucker of Fredericton, up-and-comer Mike Stevens of Riverview and former tour regular, Lonnie Sommerville of Saint John, just to name a few. Although these locals will be looking to impress in front of a hometown crowd, these New Brunswick boys will have their work cut out for them as 25 other talented drivers want nothing more than to steal their glory.
The Parts for Trucks Challenge enters round two of four this weekend. The Parts for Trucks Challenge is a contingency program (bonus money) in which drivers accumulate points based on their finishing positions in each of the four Parts for Trucks sponsored races. John Flemming (Halifax, NS) currently leads the PFT Challenge standings, followed closely by Jonathan Hicken (Brudenell, PE) just three markers behind. Shawn Turple (Enfield, NS), Greg Proude (Springvale, PE) and Craig Slaunwhite (Terence Bay, NS) round out the current top five.
In addition to Pro Stocks, fans will also see 20 laps of feature racing from the Leisure Family RV.com Street Stocks, and 30 laps of action courtesy of the Martins Home Heating Sportsman.
Tickets for the Parts for Trucks 100 are $20.00 for adults (ages 16 and up), youth tickets are $15.00 (ages 9-15), children 8 and under are admitted for free. Ontario Dirt Late Models Set To Kick Off 2010 Season
The Ontario DIRT Late Models Series in action this Sunday at Cornwall Motor Speedway!
Race fans will be treated this Sunday with a good field of cars confirmed to compete for the last event of the weekend. Peter Mantha, from Gatineau will lead the way will a World Of Outlaws Late Model car from the Chub Frank Racing Team. Mantha had some success during the recent Great Northern Tour with a 12th place finish at Can-Am in June.
Greg Oakes from Franklinville, New York, winner last year at Edelweiss and current champion of the ODLM Series for the last 2 years will be there to defend his title. Eleven of the top 12 in the 2009 series points will be in action with John Lobb, Adam West and Jeff Dayman that finished in the top 5 last year.
Regular drivers from Brighton Speedway with 4 of the 5 top drivers from that new Late Models Series in 2010 making the haul, point`s leader Charlie Sandercock, Phil Potts, Caley Weese and Jason McCrory will be in the pits. Other drivers that will compete for the win are 2009 Stateline Speedway Champ, Chad Valone from Warren, Pennsylvania and veteran Modified driver and current point`s leader in the Pro Late Model class in Can-Am Speedway, Lee Gill will also be here.
Other American drivers like David Scott from Garland, Pennsylvania and Dave Hartman from Howard City, Michigan will have the long drive to race during the weekend.
More than $13,500 in purse will be given out during the 30-lap feature race with the winner getting $2,000 for the win. Each car that will take part in the A-Main will at least leave the speedway with $400 in their pockets. Expect to see some 2 and 3-wide racing around the track all feature long.
Along with the Late Models, the Modified, Pro-Stock, Semi-Pro and Mini-Stock will also see some action with regular events in each class.
With still a lot of racing to do, these nights are really important to accumulate precious points towards track championship.

South Buxton Raceway Mid-Season Championships
Chatham drivers Brad Authier and Eric Vanderiviere both took advantage of their outside front-row starting positions to win the Dover Sanitation UMP Late Models and Windride Transportation Services Sport Stocks mid-season championship races, respectively.
Merlin’s Joe Brosseau went from fourth to the lead in one lap to win the Schinkels Gourmet Meats UMP Modifieds feature while Nate McNally of Charing Cross survived a four-car pileup involving the leaders to win the Four Seasons Driver Education Comp 4 feature.
Glassford said the outside line was the fastest for him, but that was where Authier was running.
“You can see, there’s not a mark on the car,” said Authier, adding that he came away with a flat tire from the previous week’s encounter with the 60 car.
Eric Vanderiviere knew his best chance to win was to be the first car into turn one at the drop of the green.
Points leader Shawn Jones of Blenheim finished fourth, followed by Tilbury’s James Beaulieu and Kingsville’s Norm DeSerrano, the last car on the lead lap. Denis DeSerrano finished one lap down in seventh.
Prior to the race night, drivers and team members will join the youngsters at the Junior Fan Club Party, beginning at 3 p.m. The drivers will go in the dunk tank and engage the young fans in a tug-of-war battle.
DIRTCar: Danny Johnson Ends Series Drought at Drommond
The 'Doctor' Back In Operation After Mid-Week Series Success At Drummond Drummondville, QUE - July 20, 2010 - Brett Hearn was looking for the sweep while Dale Planck was trying to lead the distance. Matt Sheppard and Jimmy Phelps had plans to retain their stronghold on the Big-Block Modified win chart while Billy Decker was hoping to regain his winning form.
When the checkered finally flew Tuesday night at Autodrome Drummond, it was open-wheel veteran Danny Johnson fulfilling his own destiny as the Rochester, N.Y. native laid claim to the Super DIRTcar Series 'Solution Ticket 100' to close out the annual Canadian Tour in the province of Quebec.
"It's been awhile but this team has been awesome for me, its great to be back," remarked Johnson, now 50, who has been racking up DIRTcar Modified wins since 1979 and his latest elevated his series count to 67, which keeps him second all-time behind only Hearn. "I'm just a lucky individual to be here. I know I'm fortunate to be here so I'm just going to enjoy it while I'm here."
"It's great getting back to victory lane, definitely a confidence builder. The team has been working really hard getting the car better each time out. As long as we stick together we'll continue to grow and get better I believe," said Johnson, whose last Series triumph came at Orange County Fair Speedway teamed with Mike Petruska and his no. 66 Atlas Paving/TEO Pro Car in the 2008 Hoosier Tire-VP Racing Fuels Eastern States 200 in Middletown.
Johnson was back aboard a familiar orange no. 27J ride in his latest victory march, this year owned by Mike Payne and carrying sponsorship from Honeoye Auto Parts, Currier Plastics and Waste Management on the potent Bicknell machine. Following in his tire tracks at the end of the century grind were hard-charging Phelps, Planck, Hearn, Sheppard, Decker and top French finisher Marin Roy, who claimed guaranteed starting status during Super DIRT Week in Syracuse for both Big-Block and 358-Modified main events held Oct. 9-10.
Pole-sitter Planck and Johnson shared front row starting assignments to lead off the 100-lap finale which was caution-stricken on the opening lap. Racing track promoter Yan Bussiere, who earlier in the night set Bilstein Shocks Fast Time, got caught up high and wound up parked on the turn three wall, a precarious position that required 10 minutes to alleviate.
Planck retained his edge on the ensuing lap nine restart, with Johnson, French favourite David Hebert, Hearn and Billy Dunn locked in pursuit. It took the 'Natural' just eight more circuits to catch the tail end of the pack as he sped around the fast 4/10-miler steering Carey Terrance's back-up RezX Racing no. 66xx Twin Leaf Express(Ft. Covington)/Bicknell entry.
Only two more yellow flags slowed the action by the midway point with Planck holding a commanding lead in what had been a rather uneventful race up to that point. When Francois Bernier idled down the front chute on lap 49, Planck and Johnson still ran two with Hearn improving to third ahead of Hebert, Sheppard, Decker and Phelps.
Hearn was quickly drop-kicked to fifth when the green flag once again unfurled on the lap 55 restart as Sheppard bolted into third. Ryan Phelps suffered a flat right-rear Hoosier eight circuits later, with his cousin Jimmy holding down fourth-place in what has become a customary move to the front in the latter stages.
The biggest incident of the night forced a red flag situation with 75 laps complete when turn three contact tangled up the cars of tour regulars Billy Dunn and Tom Sears Jr. as well as Gino Clair, Bernier and Bussiere, who was scored some 30 laps down to the leaders at the time.Green lights flashed on once more as 13 racers remained on the lead lap all looking to take their best shot at reaching the winner's circle.
In tracking down Planck prior to the field coming to a stop, Johnson continued to shadow the race-long leader until finally ducking underneath for good as the lead pair swung out of turn four. After Decker's Gypsum Express team-mate Larry Wight spun rounding turn one to force out the seventh and final caution flag on lap 83, Johnson faced a clear path ahead as did his closest rivals in search of the $6,000 top prize.
With just 10 laps to go, Planck and Phelps zeroed in on Johnson as they mirrored every move made by DIRTcar Northeast's only five-time Driver-of-the-Year. Just as 97 clicked on the lap counter Phelps grabbed second from Planck and set his sights on Johnson with time running out.Phelps was able to snuggle up to Johnson's rear bumper on the white flag lap, and when the checkers came out he nearly pushed him across the stripe as the 50-minute main event brought the final curtain down.
"We had a really good car all day, just that the other guys had pretty good cars, too," figured Johnson, following his second Big-Block win of 2010 which pushes his career count to 299 on the DIRTcar NE circuit. "With so many good cars and drivers in one place, anything can happen so you have to feel fortunate any time you can pick up a win."
"Dale took off and was gone from the start, but we were able to reel him in later on and I thought things were going good. Then the caution came out, double-file restarts aren't for me. But like I said, that's why I'm lucky, those restarts happened the way they did and I was able to do what I did and be here in victory lane," added Johnson, whose only other SDS race led (7 laps) this year was the Hagerstown Speedway opener in March.
Already finding his way to the front in seven of the first 12 Series shows in 2010, Phelps fell a fraction shy of tacking on his fourth win of the season and was forced to settle for his third runner-up tally in the previous five shows
"We really had a good car, if we could've broke free early we could've probably dome something," assessed Phelps, 35, who moved into a tie for second-place with Billy Decker on the Super DIRTcar Series points chart now 59 behind Sheppard. The Baldwinsville, N.Y. pilot remains in search of his first overall Mr. DIRTcar crown after placing among the front-four each of the past three years. "Still feel fortunate to get what we got out here today."
"Once the track rubbered up early on you just had to wait for somebody to screw up in front to get by them, so starting 15th we're real happy with second. We were really good late, yet in the beginning we just tried to hang on. Even if we started closer to the front who's to say we wouldn't have backed up, so it’s hard to say if we would've won with a better starting spot."
"The bottom line is that we got up in the mix again and we're close. Don't know if I could've got Danny without some traffic or maybe him making a mistake, who knows. Regardless, we had the car that we needed and we're happy with that," stated Phelps, already an 11-time race winner in '10, just one checkered flag shy of Sheppard.
Fresh off leading 36 laps in the headline Series special Monday night at Autodrome Granby, Planck more than doubled his progress at Drummond as the second-generation standout from Cortland, N.Y. paced the pack for the initial 78 circuits on Tuesday.
"We went with a soft tire on the left-rear and it just didn't hold up for us towards the end," lamented a disappointed Planck in the post-race interview. "The track just went away, the bottom (lane) took rubber within a lap after that restart and Dan was down there. I was coming down out of turn four trying to catch the rubber but it just locked right down and I was in the wrong place at the wrong time."
"This car seems a little better though, definitely a lot better than last night at Granby. We're going back to the shop and get the #77x fixed back up and try it all over again this weekend," Planck added.
Super DIRTcar Series travelers get two weeks off before hauling back across the border for round 10 on Monday, August 2 when Merrittville Speedway hosts the Bob St. Amand Sr. Memorial 100 presented by L. St. Amand Enterprises.

The Ontario DIRT Late Models in Action This Friday at Edelweiss Speedway!
Race fans will have a great field of cars this Friday with 32 cars confirmed to compete for the first event of the weekend. Peter Mantha, from Gatineau will lead the way will a World Of Outlaws Late Model car from the Chub Frank Racing Team.
Mantha had some success during the recent Great Northern Tour with a 12th place finish at Can-Am in June. Greg Oakes from Franklinville, New York, winner last year at Edelweiss and current champion of the ODLM Series for the last two years will be there to defend his title. Eleven of the top 12 in the 2009 series points will be in action with John Lobb, Adam West and Jeff Dayman that finished in the top five last year.
Regular drivers from Brighton Speedway with four of the five top drivers from that new Late Models Series in 2010 making the haul, point’s leader Charlie Sandercock, Phil Potts, Caley Weese and Jason McCrory will be in the pits. Other drivers that will compete for the win are 2009 Stateline Speedway Champ, Chad Valone from Warren, Pennsylvania and veteran Modified driver and current point’s leader in the Pro Late Model class in Can-Am Speedway, Lee Gill will also be here. Other American drivers like David Scott from Garland, Pennsylvania and Dave Hartman from Howard City, Michigan will have the long drive to race during the weekend.
More than $13,500 in purse will be given out during the 30-lap feature race with the winner getting $2,000 for the win. Each car that will take part in the A-Main will at least leave the speedway with $400 in their pockets. Expect to see some two and three-wide racing around the track all feature long.
The Semi-Pro, Mod-Lite and Mini-Stock will also see some action with a regular show and important points to collect toward the championship title.
General Admission cost will be $20 for adults, $16 for Students and seniors, kids 12 years old and under will be admitted for free. Pit admission will be $30 for adults and will cost $5 for kids that are 12 years old and less. Come and see the spectacular Late Model as they will make their lone visit to Edelweiss Speedway!

Brad Babb leads ACT rookie points heading to hometrack Beech Ridge
SCARBOROUGH, ME - Windham, Maine’s Brad Babb currently sits atop the ACT Late Model Tour Rookie Standings and will look to stretch his lead with a solid finish this Saturday, July 24 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway, the track where he cut his racing teeth. The seventeen year old holds a slim five point lead over fellow Maine youngster Austin Theriault of Fort Kent.
Babb has had a solid first half to his rookie season by qualifying for five of the first six races on the ACT Tour which is no small feat considering the Tour has been averaging well over 40 cars for each event. He has finished on the lead lap in four of these events with his only DNF (Did Not Finish) occurring at White Mountain Motorsports Park due to mechanical problems.
Babb has has picked up a couple top 15 place finishes to help his Sallie Bolduc team lead the Rookie chase at the halfway mark. It has been his first time visiting most of the tracks. In his first career ACT Late Model Tour start in last season’s Oxford Plains Speedway finale in October he earned a sixth place finish.
Car owner Sallie Bolduc is very pleased with the first half of Babb’s rookie season, “He’s having a very good rookie season, qualifying for all but one event. He was even running in the top ten at White Mountain before his swaybar broke and caused his only DNF so far.” She continued about his chances at Beech Ridge, “I think he will do well at his hometrack. He won a 50 lapper there earlier this month in the Pro Series and he’s really excited to be heading back.”
Bobby Babb is Brad’s father and crew chief and had experience touring on the old ACT Pro Stock Series. “When I started racing in the 80’s I was 19 and didn’t know what I was getting into. Now I know what we’re getting into. He’s 17 and has that advantage and while he hasn’t raced at most of the tracks we’ve been to he has seen them as Joey’s (Doiron, 2009 ACT Late Model Rookie of the Year) spotter last year.”
The team is looking for a solid run at Beech Ridge to bounce back after a mediocre Oxford 250 finish (28th) last weekend. “We plan on redeeming ourselves after the 250. We want to be right up front. I think we can run up front and we are aiming for nothing less than a top five,” continued Bobby.
This weekend’s 150 lap event at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway will be Babb’s best chance at cracking the top five this season. He finished 6th in the Pro Series at the 1/3 mile speedway in 2009, his rookie season, and already has a win there this month as he took the Pro Series checkers in the Miller Lite 50 on Saturday, July 3.
Sixteen year old Austin Theriault has also been impressive in his rookie season. He sits just five points out of the lead in the rookie standings and has already earned his first two career top tens at Lee USA Speedway and Oxford Plains Speedway this season. He also earned a seventh in his first career start at Thunder Road International Speedbowl’s Governor’s Cup 100, although it was not an ACT Late Model Tour event.
The top four in the ACT Tour Rookie Standings are separated by just ten points heading into the second half of the season. Milton, Vermont’s Rick Paya and Ascutney, Vermont’s Chris Riendeau still can’t be counted out of the 2010 ACT Late Model Tour Rookie of the Year hunt and the $1,000 check that goes with it.
The seventh event on the 2010 ACT Late Model Tour schedule is set for this Saturday, July 24 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, ME. Qualifying for the 150 lap event is scheduled to roll at 6:00pm.

I was finished work by 6-30 pm on Friday (16 Jul) and which allowed me to pay a visit to the Mohawk International Raceway at Hogansburg NY. There were no big delays at the Cornwall / Roosevetown border crossing and I arrived ten minutes before start time. All the regular divisions were there with Pro Stocks taking center stage for their 50 lap Mohawk Race Parts Series race .
While I was walking the pits I noticed a couple of welcome additions to the Modified ranks, one was Mike Perrotte who was making a return. He's a former MIR ( aka Frogtown Speedway) track champion and he told me that it had been six years since he'd last raced there. In the meantime he's been kept busy as promoter at the Airborne Speedway ( Plattsburg) on Saturdays and racing his Modified at the Albany-Saratoga track on Friday.
It was also good to see Tim O'Brien in attendance driving the Jim Primrose owned car. A few years ago the Primrose Team were weekly regulars with Mark Hitchcock behind the wheel, but in recent years Can Am has been their Friday night track choice.
The Sportsman ranks were also swelled by two of my Brockville friends, Josh Kane and Tabatha Murphy.
The big race of the night for Pro Stock's was as I expected, a dragged out affair with plenty of cautions. Winner after a good dog fight with Louie Jackson was Joey Ladouceur.
The Bandit Feature winner was once again Joey Foster who seems to win every time I go there. The same can be said for Chris Raabe in the Sportsman division who also found himself back in Victory Lane. He really had to work hard for it this time as Dylan Evoy challenged him side by side for most of the race.
The Modified Feature had to be red flagged after a big crash on lap 4 that took out many of the top runners. Carey Terrance, Roy Tarbell, John Lazore and Lee Ladouceur were all involved. On the restart Todd Stone got off to a run away lead then challenged by Gage Morin in the closing laps. There were not enough laps left for Morin to change the outcome so Stone went on to take his first MIR win.
On Saturday I was heading to the Brockville Ontario Speedway once more where the regular show was boosted by an appearance of the Patriot Sprint Cars. The weather forecast had threatened rain but luckily it stayed away. The Sprint car heats got off to a spectacular start when April Wilson took a wild flip after connecting with Chris Jones. April walked away from it OK, but her car was totalled. The feature race produced a surprise win by 15-year-old Shayne Ely from the Scranton area of Pennsylvania.
In the Modified Feature it looked like Dave Heaslip was going to get his first win in a long time, but a late caution put an end to that. He'd built up a big lead and was up front for most of the race but the stoppage allowed Stephane Lafrance to close the gap. Steph's car is performing like a dream at the moment and edged past the 'Slip' with a couple of laps to go. In the Victory Lane interview he stated that it was the best car he'd ever owned.
Regular Sportsman winner at BOS, Chris Raabe was attending a DIRTCAR Series race at Weedsport NY so was missing from the program. Therefore it was no surprise that Dylan Evoy one of his strongest rivals took the feature win. I have to give credit to the Sportsman guys and gals , who managed to go the full length of the feature with only one caution. Todd Raabe won the Street Stock event and in the Rookies it was Jean Marc Larose.
I seem to be over-dosing on Sprint Cars lately as the Patriot's were also attending the Sunday night races at the Cornwall Motor Speedway. Regular readers will be aware that the Sprints are not my favourite so it was nice to see a good turn out of cars in the other divisions.
As usual, I was there early and had a good chat in the pits with Pro Stock driver Dave Bissonnette. He told me that he and his crew had been busy repairing the car after receiving damage at Friday nights MIR. He was also interested in finding out more about the BriSCA F2 stock cars from Smeatharpe (UK) that he'd seen on my website www.rickattheraces.com I explained to him that they were 'contact' racers and smaller versions of BriSCA F1. BriSCA F2 have 2 litre engines where as BriSCA F1's are unlimited ( usually big and small block Chev V8's) .
Like Brockville the night before , wet weather had been forecast but some how we managed to escape it. Black clouds surrounded the area but we only got a few sprinkles of rain came that came down just as the Sprint Car feature began. This did not affect the race , but typical of this division a major wreck caused unwanted delays. A two car rollover and a big pile up on the first turn brought out the reds. With the field depleted by about 8 cars, the re run was more like a 'dash for cash' with Steve Poirier taking the win (the actual 'dash for cash' was won by Brockville winner Shayne Ely).
The Modified and Sportsman features were the best races of the night. In the Mods Carey Terrance and Gage Morin underwent a great battle until Morin went too high and clipped the front stretch wall. With him out of contention Terrance looked all set for the win, but as the old saying goes 'it ain't over until the fat lady sings'. A last lap tire failure meant a chasing Danny O'Brien was able to grab the lead as Terrance limped over the line in fourth. The Sportsman feature was also an epic duel with track rivals Chris Raabe and Randy Earl dicing side by side for most of the race. It was Raabe who took the win. The Pro Stock race was won by the aforementioned Dave Bissonnette with Ronnie Tyo taking the Mini Stock event.
