BROCKVILLE: Big Block Sunday Closes Out Fall Nationals

BROCKVILLE, ON - The 2010 racing season will come to a close Sunday afternoon at Brockville Ontario Speedway with an action packed triple header.  Big Block Sunday on October 17th will feature the Super DIRT Series for Big Block Modifieds, the final event of the Super DIRT Series for Sportsman and the Vintage Cars as part of the second annual Global Warranty DIRTcar Northeast Fall Nationals.

All eyes will be on the 50 lap Sportsman main event as the Series young gun goes toe to toe, with Brockville's own teenage phenom in a battle of number 83's.  17 year old Dylan Evoy has followed nicely in the tire tracks of Matt Billings as he mounted a charge in August to capture the track sportsman crown.  Meanwhile young Tim Sears Jr, has turned Fulton Speedway success into international acclaim.  Sears takes a 99 point lead into the finale. Which 83 will be number one on this afternoon is the question.

The Big Blocks distinctive roar will be heard for the first time as part of the Fall Nationals.  Matt Sheppard of Waterloo, NY has been the man to beat most of the season on the tour.  Super Matt has built himself a sizeable points lead as the tour goes onto Charlotte after the Brockville 100 lap stop.

The Vintage class continues to grow each year through the hard work and leadership of track photographer Henry Hannewyk.  More than 20 cars are expected from points near and far to compete as part of Big Block Sunday. 

Sunday kicks off with an autograph session under the grandstands at 10:30 am.  Hot laps for all three divisions begins at 12 noon, followed by time trials for both Sportsman and Modifieds.  The first green flag for qualifying heats will fly at 2 pm.

NEWS FLASH: Friday Night at Brockville's Fall Nationals Rained Out

BROCKVILLE, ON - A steady overnight rain has led officials to cancel the opening night program of the Global Warranty DIRTcar Northeast Fall Nationals at Brockville Ontario Speedway.  The rain began last night and continued through the morning but is expected to end this evening but not in time to save tonight's show.

Tonights Pro Stock series race will be shifted to become part of 360 Saturday with the 358 Modified Super DIRT Series and a special 360 Sprint Challenge event. The scheduled Street Stock event has been cancelled altogether.

DIRTcar FALL NATIONALS: 360 Saturday Set for Brockville

BROCKVILLE, ON - The Global Warranty DIRTcar Northeast Fall Nationals will feature a special double bill for Small Block fans on October 16th.  Saturday afternoon will feature the 360 Sprint Cars and the final race in this year's Super DIRT Series for 358 Modifieds.
 
For the Winged Warriors, it will be the final race of the Riverside Bar and Grill, King of the St. Lawrence series.  Canadian hopes will be with Quebec favourite Alain Bergeron, who may be making his final run in a sprint car.  Bergeron has been successful in the past in various series at the Beast of the East but needs to overcome a 24 point deficit to grab the mini series crown sponsored by the Ganonoque hotspot.
 
The 358 Modified event has spotlights squarely fixed on popular Kingston pilot Danny O Brien. O Brien leads the series by 10 points heading to the banks of Brockville.  If the local hero can hold off the star studded field it might be enough to bring the house down at the BOS.
 
Saturday's activities begin with an autograph session under the grandstands at 10:30 am.  The Sprint Cars will begin putting heat in their engines just before noon.  Hot laps get underway for both at 12:30 pm followed by time trials for the Modifieds at 1:15 pm.  The first green flag for the qualifying heats is set for 2 pm sharp. The Sprints will run a 25 lap feature while the 358 Modifieds will battle for 100 circuits in their respective feature events. 
One day admission for the Saturday show is 30 dollars. Fans can save with a three day pass that includes all weekend racing activities for just 65 dollars.
