The 2012 racing season is coming up quickly for Greg Belyea and his Excel Tower Service Racing team. After making the decision to start the season in February and join the World of Outlaws Late Models for their events in Florida, the team has now announced that fellow competitor and friend Charlie Sandercock will take the reigns on the familiar Excel Tower Service car for a stretch of nine races in 10 nights.

The team will depart for the sunshine state in mid-February and the first stop will be at Bubba’s Raceway Park in Ocala Florida. The track is open for practice on Wednesday, February 15th and will be followed by three exciting nights of World of Outlaw Late Model racing. When the action stops in Ocala, the team will then travel through the state of Florida during the only off day on the tour on Sunday, February 19th. The racing will pick up the following day at Volusia County Speedway for three nights of racing with the UMP sanctioned Late Models, followed by two more nights at the same venue with the World of Outlaw Late Models on February 23rd and 25th. The 24th of February will be another UMP Late Model event.

“We are very excited to travel down to Florida this year and follow the World of Outlaw Late Model schedule while we are here”, says team owner and usual driver Greg Belyea who is stepping out of car in favor of fellow competitor Charlie Sandercock, who battled Belyea for the Brighton Speedway championship through the final week of the 2011 season. “We are going to give Charlie a chance to see what he can do with the open motor car, and are very excited to have him on board”.

Sandercock will pilot the Excel Tower Racing entry with his own familiar number 57 adorning the side of the car. Sandercock adapted quickly to the Late Model division over the past two seasons after running a Canadian Modified at his home track, Brighton Speedway previously.

“It will be a lot of fun to get away to Florida in February and go racing”, adds Belyea. “We made the trip a few years ago, and we learned a lot, and I feel that we are much more prepared this time around. We know it will be a really competitive field down there, and hopefully we can have a good outing with Charlie in the car. It will be a long stretch of racing, but it will be a great way to start of the season”.
