Trois-Rivières, August 3rd 2011 – Motorsports fans in Trois-Rivières are getting ready to attend the biggest event of the year this weekend, the 42nd edition of Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières. The Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship presented by Continental Tire (CTCC) is proud to announce that it will be featured in the Friday night race with headlights on.
Among the seven series that are presented during the GP3R weekend, only CTCC has the capacity of presenting a night show. With headlights on, Round Eleven will become even more spectacular to watch and definitely challenging for the competitors. With FREE admission on Friday after 5:00 p.m. and several local competitors, this is the race you don't want to miss!
During Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières, watch for Etienne Borgeat of Montréal in his Pontiac Solstice from GT Racing; Borgeat is in second position in the Super Class standings with 1001 points and he is only five points away from the leader Richard Boake. In third position with 951 points is Amherstburg driver Dean Fantin.
In Touring Class, still unbeatable is Markam driver Tom Kwok with 1134 points. Kwok, in his Honda Civic Si, is being followed closely by the MINIs teammates Alain Lauzière from Vaudreuil in second place with 1026 points and Michel Sallenbach from Roxton Pond, in third position with 987 points.
VW GTI driver P.J. Groenke stands in fifth position with 850 points.
As several drivers experienced big crashes at Mosport during Round Ten, Rounds Eleven and Twelve will be exciting to follow. Going into the end of the Championship, points matter even more and only one position (five
points) can make the difference.
