Montreal NASCAR Nationwide: Lap 50 update
LAP 50 - Polesitter Marcos Ambrose leads Andrew Ranger with 24 laps to go and black skies moving in. J.R. Fitzpatrick is sixth and Jacques Villeneuve is 13th after finally getting back on schedule with his pit stops. Last year's Montreal race winner Ron Fellows was taken out in a violent crash by Justin Allgaier who appeared to have lost his brakes.

There's word that Andrew Ranger's team is hoping for rain as they don't know if he can make it to the end on fuel.
Villeneuve restarted 13th and is up to 8th in one lap. Caution for gravel on track after Stephen Wallace off-track excursion. JV is all over JR Fitzpatrick for 7th.
LAP 54... it's going to rain a lot, soon. Still Ambrose, Edwards, Ranger, Kyle Busch, Paul Menard, Boris Said, JR Fitzpatrick and Jacques Villeneuve. Still under caution.
LAP 58.... Ranger took 2nd from Edwards.... soon after, YELLOW came out for rain. DJ Kennington was spun and is sitting against the wall.
Ambrose leads comfortably. How long will NASCAR wait this out?
LAP 61.... Looks like they're going to rain tires and wipers for the final portion of the race. The grandstands are still jammed as people can sense Ranger (2nd) might do something special.
6 p.m. - Lap 61 - Engines re-fired with cars on rain tires. Some have installed wipers, others have used RainX.
LAP 66 - Another caution period coming to an end. Ambrose leads Kyle Busch, then Ranger, Edwards, Menard, Said, Brad Keselowski, JV and JR Fitz.
LAP 68.... JR Fitzpatrick missed C1 on the restart. Came to a stop in the infield and couldn't get it going again. YELLOW FLAG to remove him. Cars spinning everywhere. Ambrose leads, Kyle Busch, Andrew Ranger... JV is 7th.
It's official.... Steven Wallace has hit every car in the field.
Ranger up to 2nd and all over Ambrose. Could do it.... CAUTION....oh man.
A little while ago, they interviewed NASCAR boss Mike Helton about whether or not the Cup Series would follow the Nationwide Series' lead in using treaded tires and wipers when it's wet. Gotta figure this debacle pretty much puts a nail in that one. Carl Edwards just called this "insane."
Setting up for a green, white, checkered. Tagliani up to 8th in Randy MacDonald's #81. I think Tag has made 20 stops today. MacDonald Motorsports' best ever finish was eighth in this series.
Lap 74 Restart.... Ranger 2nd, JV 7th, Tag 8th and JF Dumoulin is 10th.
One shot at Green/White/Checkered with lap 74.
FINISH: Edwards wins.... Ambrose blew final turn after leading 60 laps. Ranger 3rd and Villeneuve 4th. Wow. Poor Ambrose should have won this race in each of the last three years... and has nothing.
