This is right out of the playbook of the recent U.S. Congressional bailout.
Rich guys supposedly NEED your money to solve a crisis of their own making.
They tell you they're doing it FOR you.

Montreal Mayor Gerald Tremblay said Thursday a meeting would be held between F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone and Canadian officials to try to salvage next year's Canadian Grand Prix.
Tremblay said there was a $10 million to $20 million commercial gap between Grand Prix organizers and Ecclestone.
GPF1 chief executive officer and president Paul Wilson said a competent team was still in place to organize and manage the event, despite the confirmation by previous promoters they were withdrawing from the event.
Michael Fortier, federal minister of public works and government services said, "conversations with Mr. Ecclestone lead me to believe there is hope."

There's a reason other racing series have become more popular. Bernie Ecclestone thinks that the world should pay him tens of millions for the privilege of watching his racing series. He lost touch with reality years ago.
Under Bernie and Max F1 has become an extortion racket. It will contine to be one until the manufacturers grow some balls and put the fans first.
Many teams are complaining that leaves no North American venue, the large market for many brands. Those companies themselves should be putting up dollars to retain the race to stay in Montral.
