Raikkonen Wins F1 Title - For Now

By James Neilson

Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen rebounded from a lackluster early season, winning the Brazilian Grand Prix and capturing the 2007 Formula 1 World Championship in the season's last race. McLaren's Lewis Hamilton came into the race leading the championship while his teammate, Fernando Alonso, sat in second with Raikkonen in third.

It didn't take long for Hamilton to toss his title hopes away, after going off on the opening lap, trying to get around Alonso, Hamilton's car slowed, apparently struggling with some sort of electronic glitch.

Ultimately his car kept going but it was clear by then that the Ferrari's had the speed over their McLaren rivals. Hamilton valiantly tried to get back into contention while Alonso could never get close to Felipe Massa or his Ferrari teammate, Riakkonen.

There was some controversy as Massa had led handily until a pitstop put him behind Raikkonen for the remainder of the race. Then, after the race, there were fuel irregularities found in the BMW's of Nick Heidfeld and Robert Kubica, as well as the Williams of Nico Rosberg.

The stewards claim that Heidfeld's, Kubica's and Rosberg's cars fuel was below the tolerable limit but that it was almost impossible to prove the accuracy of the measurement, thus no penalty was applied.

McLaren has appealed the decision leaving the title up in the air for now. If Heidfeld, Kubica and Rosberg were to be disqualified Hamilton would be elevated to fourth, securing the World title in his rookie season.

Here we go again....

I find this to be CRAZY!!!! Let Raikkonen have his day in the sun.....

Ferrari displayed the team spirit that McLaren lacked, and won it all. F1 should not penalize Raikkonen for Fuel irregularities of other teams. It is amusing that McLaren is protesting the results after they failed to operate as a team. If they had shown some teamwork then McLaren would likely have a world champion.

The FIA will not do anything to jeapordize a Ferrari winner. I can not recall a single decision that has ever gone against Ferrari and affected anything. Even when they stripped Shuey of his points he had already lost the title...the bias towards Ferrari sucks. I agree with the team comment. If Alonso had slowed the field down so Hamilton could catch up then he would have had a chance.

I dont think its McLaren that needed to show the team spirit, more like Alonso, and to be fair Hamilton deserves that title as much as Raikkonen does...

This season has been a fiasco for F1. It has reached a level of credibility equal to Pro wrestling. I am convinced that if anything had got Hamilton in the position to win another "unexplainable" glitch would have happened to his electrics. Everything since spygate has been a farce, only to maintain the flow of money. Once cars are declared illegal, they are illegal. Like pregnancy. That is unless you are the money grubbing dictators of F1. Nobody won anything on even terms this year. We are all losers.

This is divine intervention. When people steal technical specifications from others, they are usually punished. I am amazed that all fans here seem to forget that Maclaren was caught with stolen property. God worked his justice in Corner four and shut up arrogance, lies and bias in a moment of "rookiness." Kimi won fair and square. UK crybabies ...please cry. Life is good !

Lewis's arrogance overshadows his talent. With Kimi as champion, Massa getting stronger, Alonso's brilliance, BMW's improvement, you can take this to the bank. Lewis will be exposed next year for being a "good" driver. Maclaren invested 5 million pounds on this kid and you will see people...that he blew his chance. Next year is going to be better for everybody else.

I agree completely. All this bias talk about Lewis brillaince is overstated. If any of the other drivers had being in this Maclaren, we would have a Maclaren champion. The diference between the twenty two drivers is seconds and not minutes. Yes, next year will prove this. Ferari will win again next year. Watch and enjoy.

Love it. UK loses rugby World Cup, and their wonder boy blows the Formula One championship. Kimi wins, Alonso the best, and the bias British cry foul. Life is wonderful. Humility is a wonderful thing. Kimi showed it. He kept quiet and drove the car. Kimi deserves this win. Give Lewis a box of tissues. Ron Dennis is a fool not to help Alonso.

It is a real shame for FIA to still hear far cry from a team that did nothing more than what was wrong, To steal confidential ínformation from Ferrari.
On top of that to let them be the judge of who did wrong now. As Mclarens was stripped of their points in the constructor´s championship, an they were not allowed to go up the podium, had one of their driver
won a race, ¿ why can they now appeal anything NOW? If they are allowed to do so, I think that the appeal against Rookie Hamilton for using more wet compound tires should apply, making him loose positions much far from his not so desevable crown. KIMI and FERRARI WON on the TRACK, Isn't that what Ron Dennis always wanted? Well sorry Lath, unless you were refering to SLOT Racing...Red will rule you this year, digest It!!!!!!

Talking about TABLE SLOT Racing. That's where MR. Hammilton could belong íf he is given this crown. That would be another of his first ever record. Guinness take notes......Because Formula 1 2007 winner was only one, no matter what Daddy Dennis is cooking for you now in the dirty Mclaren kitchen, O.K.!!!!Kimi Rules,Long live FERRARRRRRRRI!!!!

I personally think that if Hammilton gets the title,It will be the last time I will care anymore for Formula One, since it has become a real Circus as they call it! What a disaster, that a team like this would destroy all what Formula One is until now!!!
